The following procedures, while not necessary, may solve problems that DiscJuggler can encounter with your system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows XP Professional Edition:
Make sure "Auto-insert notification" is disabled by using the following steps to modify the system configuration (recommended):
Click on Start and then on Run. Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter.
Navigate the directory structure to: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System
Locate the entry entitled "Turn autoplay off" and double-click to open.
Check the radio button of "Enabled".
Set the option below of "Turn off Autoplay on:" to "All drives".
Click "Apply" and exit Group Policy window.
Use Disk Management to un-assign the drive letter of every writing drive not used as a reading drive (optional):
Right-click on My Computer, click Manage, and click Disk Management.
Configure drive(s) to have no drive letter assignments.
Locate the entry entitled "Turn autoplay off" and double-click to open.
Exit Computer Management.
Install the latest Windows XP Professional Edition service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows XP Home Edition:
Make sure "Auto-insert notification" is disabled by using the following steps to modify the system registry (recommended):
Click on Start and then on Run. Type "regedit" and press Enter.
Select the Registry section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
Create a new key called: NoDriveTypeAutoRun
Type is: DWORD
Value is: 0x000000b5 (181)
Use Disk Management to un-assign the drive letter of every writing drive not used as a reading drive (optional):
Right-click on My Computer, click Manage, and click Disk Management.
Configure drive(s) to have no drive letter assignments.
Install the latest Windows XP Home Edition service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows 2000:
Login to the system with administrator privileges.
Make sure "Auto-insert
notification" is disabled by setting the following value in the system
registry (recommended):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun
= 0x00000000
Use Disk Management (Administrative Tools » Computer Management » Disk Management) to un-assign the drive letter of every writing drive not used as a reading drive (optional).
Install the latest Windows 2000 service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows NT:
Login to the system with administrator privileges.
Make sure "Auto-insert
notification" is disabled by setting the following value in the system
registry (recommended):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun
= 0x00000000
Using "Disk Administrator" un-assign the drive letter of every writing drive not used as a reading drive (optional).
Install the latest Windows NT service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows 95/98/Me:
For every reading and writing drive present on the system, open the "property page" and make sure:
Auto-insert notification is not checked (optional).
Disconnect is checked.
DMA (if available) is checked. Manual intervention may be required to enable the Microsoft driver to perform IDE DMA transfers. Refer to your system manufacturer or the http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/archive/idedma.mspx article for more information.
Install the latest Windows service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
Before you install DiscJuggler on Windows 95 (non-OSR2):
For every reading and writing drive present on the system, open the "property page" and make sure:
Auto-insert notification is not checked (optional).
Disconnect is checked.
Install the latest Windows service pack (see Microsoft Windows Update).
Restart the system.
